Night Security Officer (Seasonal)

Vassar, MICompetitive, based on experience

Job description

Krystal Lake Campground in Vassar, MI is hiring a seasonal Night Security Officer to keep our campground safe, quiet, and welcoming through the overnight hours.

Position Summary

As our overnight presence, you are the eyes and ears of the campground while guests sleep. You patrol the grounds, enforce quiet hours and campground rules, confirm that gates and facilities are secure, and respond calmly to guest needs and after-hours arrivals. This is an observe, report, and de-escalate role: your job is to keep the peace and get the right help when it is needed, not to physically confront anyone.

What You'll Do

  • Patrol the grounds, campsites, and common areas on foot and by patrol vehicle or cart throughout the overnight shift
  • Enforce quiet hours, speed limits, and campground rules with a friendly, firm, and professional approach
  • Monitor entrances and gates, confirm that buildings and facilities are secured, and watch for safety or fire hazards
  • Greet and direct late arrivals and assist guests with after-hours questions and lockouts
  • Observe, document, and report incidents, rule violations, and maintenance or safety issues
  • Respond calmly to disturbances and emergencies; de-escalate conflicts and contact management or 911 as appropriate
  • Keep a clear written log of patrols, incidents, and anything the day team needs to know
  • Provide a reassuring, visible presence that helps families feel safe

What We're Looking for

  • Dependability and sound judgment while working independently overnight
  • A calm, level-headed manner with strong de-escalation and communication skills
  • The ability to stay alert and active through overnight hours in all seasonal weather
  • A valid driver's license (patrols may use a vehicle or utility cart)
  • Prior security, law enforcement, military, loss-prevention, or customer-service experience is a plus but not required
  • Willingness to complete a pre-employment background check

Physical Requirements

Able to remain alert and on duty throughout an overnight shift; stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods, including over uneven terrain and stairs; occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds; work primarily outdoors in seasonal weather, including cool nights. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals to perform the essential functions.

Minimum Age

You must be at least 21 years old for this position. This role works independently overnight, enforces campground rules, and responds to guest and property situations, which is why the minimum age is set at 21.

Schedule & Pay

Seasonal, hourly, W-2 employment running approximately April through October. This is an overnight position; shifts are scheduled during nighttime and early-morning hours, including weekends and holidays during the operating season. Pay: Competitive, based on experience.
